Home Construction Off to Strong Start

Categories: Uncategorized No Comments »

2013 is already shaping up to be a success year for the home building industry. Several factors such as an increase in new homes, drop in foreclosures and near record low mortgage rates makes 2013 the ideal time to buy your new dream home!

Below is an article from CNN Money:

Home construction got off to a strong start in 2013, as builders filed for the greatest number of permits in more than four years in January

Permits are a sign of builders’ confidence in the market. It’s also less affected by weather than housing starts. Last month, builders filed for permits at an annual rate of 925,000, up about 2% from December and up 35% from a year earlier. It was the best month for permits since June 2008.

Meanwhile, the pace of housing starts slowed to an annual rate of 890,000 in January, down 9% from December, when there was a spike related to repairs from Superstorm Sandy. But even the lower pace of starts was up 24% from a year ago.

The housing market has been helped by a number of factors in recent months, including increased sales of both new homes and previously-owned houses, a drop in foreclosures, and near record low mortgage rates. A drop in the nation’s unemployment rate is also helping.

Fort Worth Named #1 City to Buy a Home!

Categories: DFW, Homeowners, Housing Market No Comments »

Fort Worth is named the #1 city to purchase a home in America! There has never been a better time to purchase your dream home than now!

Cheldan Homes’ Fort Worth Communities

Article from AOL Real Estate:

Though the rate of homeownership in the U.S. has dipped to a 16-year low, owning a home is clearly still very important to most Americans. Even though home prices are on the incline, it’s still a market full of deals to be had. If you’re thinking now’s the time to buy a home, where should you start looking?

NerdWallet.com took a look at the 10 best cities to own a home. Their criteria in choosing the cities was simple (well, sort of): They looked at cities where homes are available (higher for-sale inventory), where homes are affordable and where there is high-growth opportunity (meaning low unemployment and growing population). Click through the gallery below to see the 10 best cities to own a home.

1. Fort Worth, TX

Fort Worth has the lowest median home cost on our list, a low unemployment rate and a relatively high population growth rate, making this popular Lone Star State city an ideal place for homebuyers to settle down. The “City of Cowboys and Culture” has a thriving social scene as well, with its own indoor rodeo at The Stockyards, a district containing classic Texas barbecue restaurants and historical landmarks.

Decorating Tip! Using Plaid the Right Way

Categories: Design Ideas, Homeowners No Comments »

Deciding on a decorating scheme for a room can often seem daunting and overwhelming. Your best bet is to pick colors and fabrics that stay in style no matter the year. Although using trendy ideas and styles may look good at the present time, a few years down the road you could find yourself hating everything you own. Sticking with a classic pattern such as Plaid seems current no matter the time period.

Below is an article from Yahoo! Voices describing the best way to make your plaid designs sing!

Plaid never seems to go out of style in home furnishings or fashion. It is unsurprising, because plaid is extremely versatile. It can evoke either country style or chic sophistication. Here are some design ideas and products to help you to use plaid to decorate your home.

Plaid wallpaper adds color and pattern to a room. For a rustic, country look, use a mauve or country blue plaid wallpaper. Accentuate the look with rustic wooden furniture. This style goes great in kitchen. Be careful of overkill though. To prevent the plaid wallpaper from being too overpowering, divide the wall in two with a dado rail. Use plaid wall paper on one half and a neutral color such as cream on the other half. This helps to give the eye a rest from the plaid pattern.

Plaid wall paper can also look dynamic and sophisticated. Use a large-scale plaid in strong colors such as red and black to create drama in a room. Modern furniture looks great with this look. Sleek black chairs and a large panel mirror harmonize beautifully with the graphic red and black plaid design.

Plaid upholstery looks attractive on a chair or sofa. For a French country look, upholster a sofa in a small blue and white gingham pattern. Accessorize with a lacy coverlet or cushions.

For an unusual look, try an unexpected color combination like orange and black plaid upholstery. The contrast of a traditional pattern with unique colors is very eye-catching. A chair or sofa which is upholstered in orange and black plaid fabric can create a focal point in a room.

Curtains are striking in plaid fabric because the soft draping effect contrasts beautifully with the boxy pattern. Choose a plaid color combination that harmonizes with the rest of the décor in a room. Luxurious fabrics such as silk show off plaid curtains to a dazzling effect.

Other plaid soft furnishings can give a room color and warmth. For instance, a plaid coverlet or bedspread in rich red and gold colors makes a room look cozy. Replace dark plaid furnishings with lighter cotton blends in the spring and summer. Plaid is so versatile that it’s easy to decorate your home with a plaid for all seasons.
